Description
If you read my previous entry: “Mom’s love”, there is a part I am talking about a Mom watching her beloved daughter as she was about to be announced as the most beautiful girl of the school’s beauty contest. So here she is…Remember the day she became IIR’s Miss Beauty, articles and rumors, bad comments spread saying “The Queen doesn’t reserve to be the most beautiful one!”. That hurt her some how, I knew that, as she we made friends later and she expressed her anger over bad comments!
Ok, so let’s put it this way. You are recognized as the most beautiful person in a contest, it is not just because you have an extraordinary appearance ( I mean, the “outside” looking), in this case, you don’t need to enter to contest to convince people that you are beautiful, they see it, it’s obvious if you really are! But because you have something further than that, you to compete with other fine looking people to show it, so that’s why we have contests. Miss Queen must be pretty outside and beautiful inside. It is a basic knowledge, but surprisingly, most people still insist “Beauty” as an outside looking ! Now, that is what we call…..stupid!
I was following the contest most of the progress, I was smart enough to recognize the best candidate. Well, of course, all of them are beautiful, or even a person is not beautiful to me but she is to others, so their appearances were not my concern, I just paid attention to those who were really REAL, who were just trying to show off and desperate for the Crown in everyway. And SHE was the one – the REAL one! Something happened that turned me to be her greatest supporter.
Among the extracurricular activities of the beauty contest, there was a trip to a charity center (as mentioned in the previous entry as well) and all the candidates were supposed to express their creative, kind-hearted sides to the unfortunate people here. Well, sure everyone tried to be “friendly” and “joyful” with children and “caring” to old people, in someway they were trying to show off, but in someway they were really touched by these poor lonely people here. At noon, the girls cooked rice noodle for lunch, specially reserved for the elderly, they served the noodle in the eating hall of the center then gathered old people to enjoy their cooking. Yet there were disabled old people must stayed in their places, they could not go, some were blind, some could not move, they were sitting on their beds, sad, lonely….mosquitoes, bad smell of urine all over…. as I saw them, they touched my heart, I was thinking of my grandparents – hey, they are just the same age! Some “volunteers” carried the noodle bowls to those rooms and spooned them. Ngoc spooned a blind old lady, the lady was quite unclean with the urine smell, Ngoc tried hard to put the noodle to her mouth because she could not see, then Ngoc’s cell rang, the lady busted out to tear, she said the sound made her thinking of her long lost daughter – that was a sad moment! Ngoc went out for the phone and but then the old lady did something that the bowl dropped, it was hot, she was burn, I tried to call people to help her clean up and helped the burning. To tell you – she was very smell and unclean, so I knew some girls would hesitate to help cleaning her and her bed – but that was the marking moment. Some hesitated for real, and they tried to help but they did not REALLY help. Yet I saw Ngoc rushed for napkins, she was willing to clean all over, she did not hesitate the situation, really, I saw that, and she made the credit!
And then later, as I observed her again, she carried with her some small gifts, like a scarf, a tiger balm…then wandered through rooms to give the people in there as her own gifts, not the gifts from the trip – perhaps she just tried to show off, but to…who?, she did it without showing or telling the “judges” or anyone during the trip, only me seeing that, and she did not know who I was at that time. And I noted it in my head – she’s should be the Queen!
And later, I was surprised to learn she has a beautiful voice, open mind and what touched my heart was her love to her mother. Her father passed away some years before, and she said she was trying everything as a dedication for her mother. She tried hard, but she deserved this!
Until later I became their friend, I learnt that that Crown is not even enough for such a so wonderful girl like her. She is smart, lovely, kind, beautiful in everyway, and sure what she did in the charity center was not an act! So….that proves those articles and comments are worthless and….stupid!
Those photos I took after one month I met her and after one month I purchased my 5D. They were taken in the late afternoon, the sun was almost out and the lighting at the place was not good. I did not have any tripod or any assistant, just me – her and my camera. These are my very first experience with a “serious” camera. But I am glad that I had a great photo set! Great mom and Miss Beauty love these photos so much – and that is how the photos are paying me – People’s love!
Gui.mp3 – Giang Sol – Bao Ngoc
This song has not yet been publicized by the artist (Ms Giang Sol), but Ngoc decided to sing it for me as a gift before I left VN for the US. It is a beautiful song, if you can understand in Vietnamese!
