Description
I had a great night out which happened a couple of weeks ago, just post these pix on to remember something!
Huong is my best friend here. We have known each other for like…nearly 10 years, since our first day at college. She is a funny, friendly, lovely and SO DAMN smart person that I have ever met. We were supposed to be in college together but then she left me for Russia just after she finished the first year. She was granted scholarship from the Institute for best students of the first year. And guess what, she was going to be there for 6 years. And we had lost contacts since then.
6 years passed by, she graduated, came back to Vietnam, “busy” all the time, but we reconnected. She was one of my greatest friends in college and distance was the only reason to separate us! Then a coincidence happened, she got a MB scholarship in the US, same time I was back here for my photography classes! That means… we are best friends here. I’m happy to have her as my closest friend here, since it is not easy to get along with some other Vietnamese who lived here long!
She is in Fordham University. I took her photos and posted them on my facebook sometimes, some of her friends saw that, they liked them! Well, so it would be cool to meet them, and they would like to meet me too.
She is taking something like “global development” or something, in abbreviation it is IPED (you can see from the photos below). The students are granted scholarship or internship around the world, like Africa, Europe, Asia…what she’s studying sounds pretty excited to me (but nah, I can’t stand of all papers and exams she is talking about all the time) !!! She got one scholarship in South Africa for this summer, which made me envious to death!
She called me the day she was going to be granted the scholarship: “I am going to be granted the scholarship tomorrow, I want you to be there, I want my best friend to be there, just you, you are so important to me, I don’t want other people!”. Yap, well, she melted my heart didn’t she? And it would be a great chance for me to meet her friends too, especially since she said: “They know you, they LOVE your photos!!”, haha!
It was a warm but…cool night. I met her friends and we talked a lot, most of them love traveling, cultures and….photography. I met Jay, a Philipino guy, he is so fond of photography, we were talking about photo things, classes….He said he loves photography but have had not any chances to attend any classes, and he said he only uses a “Powershot” and that his photos are not really “nice”. Later he showed me his photo blog, and I was damn surprised that he got so many great photos, especially if they were taken by Powershot, then he should be extremely talented! He was being too modest! Too bad that he is taking the “development” thing, haha!!!
And I met Brian, we were talking about traveling, he had been to Vietnam and now he wants to come back for his internship. There’s one great thing about him is that he promised to take me to come visit a painting studio of his roommate. He sent me the link of the artist later and I was shocked with all the work in there, just like….amazed me, as much great as like an obsession. And definitely I am going to be there with Brian before he is going to Thailand or Vietnam for his internship!
And I took the photos for the night. Perhaps they would use the photos for the school’s website or just passing around. Glad that I took some great moments for my best friend and made new friends there!
